First meeting of the CoLab Ambassadors reference group
The newly established CoLab for Kids’ Community Ambassadors reference group met for the first time in November at Telethon Kids.
Thirteen members were selected with the help of the Consumer and Community Health Research Network to bring a much-needed community/family ‘voice’ to CoLab’s work and to ensure that it is informed by the needs and priorities of the community.
CoLab Director Professor Donna Cross said the group would help identify priority issues for families in raising young children, provide input into the development of research strategies for potential new projects and provide guidance in the best way to provide information to parents and carers.
“Their active involvement in key decision-making for CoLab will help maximise the opportunity for better ‘take up’ of services, initiatives and products developed,” Professor Cross said.
The new CoLab Community Ambassadors group consists of parents and carers of children aged 0 to 8 years, from northern (Clarkson/Joondalup) and southern Perth suburbs (Kwinana/Cockburn).
The Ambassadors have worked with CoLab to develop an online survey to help inform CoLab’s innovative app to provide parents and carers with parenting and child development support.
