Professor David Bloom with Early Years Economic Summit speakers and participants
CoLab hosted four events in November as part of its Economic Understanding of Service Delivery Priority Area.
Professor David E. Bloom, Clarence James Gamble Prof of Economics and Demography in the Department of Global Health and Population, Harvard School of Public Health was the draw card for three of these events which were an Early Years Economic Summit, an Early Years Economic Think Tank and an Early Years Policy Forum. This series of events culminated in agreement by participants to attempt to develop a ‘whole of child’ economic model.
CoLab Director Professor Donna Cross said attempting to fully quantify the economic impact of early years interventions across the education, health, social welfare and labour economic disciplines was a world first.
Also, UK Professor of Health Economics Mike Drummond hosted a roundtable discussion for health economists to consider how to evaluate outcomes in a multisector environment with a focus on early childhood.
